Today, we are announcing an agreement to acquire ADT. Home security has the qualities we look for in the businesses we own: an essential service that depends on specialist expertise and people that customers can trust to show up when it matters.
ADT has earned that trust for over 150 years. Its nationwide installation and service network supports equipment in millions of homes, while its monitoring professionals respond when help is needed. We see an opportunity to build on that foundation for decades.
Holdings was built around the conviction that many established industries will be transformed by technology from the inside out. Our approach brings together a technology company’s engineering capabilities with the expertise of people who know those industries deeply. We are already doing this across more than 75 businesses in accounting, IT services, and the built environment.
Owning and operating businesses gives us the ability to improve how customers are served by changing the way work gets done. Permanent capital lets us sustain that investment over years. At ADT, we would invest in its people alongside the technology, helping teams deliver the protection and peace of mind that customers rely on.
We see an opportunity for new technology to help reduce false alarms and make notifications more informative, giving monitoring teams better information when something needs attention. It could also identify equipment problems earlier and make them easier to resolve. Customers should have greater confidence that their protection is working as it should.
Our ambition is to help ADT define the next era of trusted home security.
